Shooting Fundamentals


The Shooting Fundamentals Course will provide you an opportunity to develop or refresh your firearms skills. If you are nervous about that new gun, have not shot in a while, or are consistently “in-consistent” with your shooting, then this is the course for you. We will review the fundamentals of marksmanship and practice the skills necessary to be a good shooter.


The Shooting Fundamentals Course will provide:

  • Fundamentals of marksmanship
  • Techniques to fine tune your skills and/or learn new skills
  • Standard and tactical reloads
  • Handgun malfunction drills
  • Proper weapons handling and deployment
  • Glock 19 Handgun will be provided by CPTS
  • Ammunition for this course will be provided by CPTS

**The Shooting Fundamentals Course will take approximately 3.5 hours to complete**


Student Requirements:

  • Protective eyewear and hearing protection (CPTS can provide)
  • Bring 100 rounds of ammunition if you bring your own firearm
  • Bringing the firearm you will be using to protect yourself is always recommended. Personal firearm will be inspected for safety and functionality by CPTS firearm instructors. Firearms and holsters found to be un-serviceable will not be allowed on the firing line.
  • Holster and magazine pouch will be provided for CPTS owned firearms
  • If you bring your own holster, it should be a paddle or belt holster that permits you to safely draw and re-holster your weapon without removing the holster
  • Handgun should have three or more magazines (speed loaders for revolvers)
  • Close toed shoes required
  • Long pants and a belt for your pants (to properly wear your holster)
  • Hat and sunscreen recommended
